Jupiter and Saturn are King and Queen. They are engaged in a Cosmic Morality Play. We cannot the manage details without the signs, houses and aspects affecting the two planets, but we can discuss the characters, themselves.
The Actors
We all agree that Jupiter is King Zeus, but I take issue with giving a masculine persona to Saturn. I put Saturn on the feminine side of the Yin/Yang spectrum because the keywords that describe it are the same as the keywords for Yin qualities of darkness, stasis and cold.
For example:
Saturn rules structure, crystal, coldness, darkness, limits, shapes, confinement, restriction and death. I promote the idea that Saturn is a Grandmother, not an old man. If you look at all of the concepts that are associated with Saturn and Capricorn, they are all words describing limits, structures and darkness. These are all feminine, Yin qualities.
Saturn should have been named Juno, Jupiter’s wife, protector of the city (an enclosure) and midwife to her daughters (eternity). The Greco/Roman story of Saturn castrating his father, Ouranos, is a description of Yin castrating Yang. Saturn is not the son taking his father’s fertility. Saturn is the wife, receiving her husband’s energetic gift of animation. The Yang force is “harvested” by the Yin process. Sperm enters egg in service to life. The male sacrifice is energetic. The feminine sacrifice is her autonomy.
They interact. He invigorates her. She transforms him.
Together, they Speak Your Truth.
On the Tree of Life, Jupiter is Thunder (Yang Action) while Saturn is the Castle (Yin Containment). He (Jupiter) shakes things up. She (Saturn) forms things up. Jupiter is the Angels on your right shoulder, Saturn is the Devils on your left. Over time, Jupiter’s angelic activators jump from your right shoulder, over your head, around your neck as Saturn’s devilish restrictions exchange places on the opposite side.
Morality develops as we ponder the temperature of our choices.
Shall I kill the antelope for the cruel fun of it, or kill it in reverence as I use all of its parts to survive? Jupiter and Saturn couple together to make the moral choices that justify our behavior.
Jupiter in his fiery countenance is Yang. He promotes and expands. Saturn in her earthy countenance is Yin. She selects and reforms. They inhabit an important relationship in the Chakra system, where they exist in the 5th Chakra, the throat, the center of Morality.
Jupiter as Fiery Sagittarius gallops toward the grand Idea. He expands the fertility of the mind through travel. He goes. He investigates the foreign and brings it to others. Fertility is created by sprinkling diversity around the globe. The more he travels, the more tolerant he becomes.
His womun, Saturn/Juno, denies his width of experience. She narrows the acceptance of his multitudes. She says, “We can only accept this much novelty. Too much at once and we will not recognize ourselves.”
Saturn as Earthy Capricorn is the practical application of the grand idea. It may seem that Saturn is restrictive and sad, and it is. But at any point of creation, the creators must take into account their current resources and abilities.
She has prepared his dinner. He succumbs to her wishes. Respect.
The Queen is the cautious partner in the Morality Project. The King is the joyful partner. Modern life insists that the King be in charge of the Queen’s tasks. The King can’t dance with two left feet. When expected to be both, he becomes a Left Brain tyrant who believes he is alone, body-less and in power.
In pursuit of Ideals and Targets
We have lost reverence for The Precious Moment.
In The Moment, we are the Yang Thought embodied in the Yin Experience.
Neither exists alone.
